{"id":190,"date":"2012-03-23T21:57:18","date_gmt":"2012-03-24T02:57:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.stellamortis.com\/?p=190"},"modified":"2012-03-24T17:33:43","modified_gmt":"2012-03-24T22:33:43","slug":"2d-glasses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.stellamortis.com\/?p=190","title":{"rendered":"2D glasses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When Rob and I went to see Phantom Menace 3D, one of the reasons we&#8217;d waited awhile was because of his eyes-recovering from the detached retina and all. \u00a0Because of that, we weren&#8217;t entirely sure how well he&#8217;d be able to see 3D movies yet, or if he&#8217;d even be able to.<\/p>\n<p>So, I ordered the <a title=\"2D glasses\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thinkgeek.com\/tshirts-apparel\/miscellaneous\/e9b4\/\">2D glasses<\/a> from <a title=\"Think Geek\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thinkgeek.com\/\">ThinkGeek.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 208px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"  \" title=\"2D and 3D\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/s3.amazonaws.com\/imgly_production\/3744696\/large.jpg?resize=198%2C264\" alt=\"\" width=\"198\" height=\"264\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">2D and 3D glasses, side by side<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The glasses were originally one of the April Fool&#8217;s products. \u00a0But the really cool thing with Think Geek is that when enough people show interest, they&#8217;ll turn the April Fool&#8217;s products into real ones. \u00a0Other things that started out like this&#8211;the <a title=\"TaunTaun sleeping bag\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thinkgeek.com\/geektoys\/plush\/bb2e\/\">TaunTaun sleeping bag<\/a>, <a title=\"iCade\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thinkgeek.com\/electronics\/retro-gaming\/e762\/\">iCade<\/a>, <a title=\"canned unicorn meat\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thinkgeek.com\/caffeine\/wacky-edibles\/e5a7\/\">canned unicorn meat<\/a>(this one has one of the <a title=\"cease and desist\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thinkgeek.com\/blog\/2010\/06\/officially-our-bestever-cease.html\">funniest stories<\/a>). \u00a0They have some pretty cool <a title=\"April Fool's products\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thinkgeek.com\/stuff\/looflirpa\/index.shtml?srp=7\">April Fool&#8217;s stuff<\/a>, though not all ends up as real products.<\/p>\n<p>But back to the glasses. \u00a0They look exactly like 3D glasses, aside from the writing on the side, and yes, they do work like they say. \u00a0We took them to Phantom Menace, and Rob tried them with a trailer. \u00a0After checking the 3D glasses to see that, yes, he can use them. \u00a0He gave me the 2D glasses to check, and yup, the 3D trailer went 2D when I put them on. \u00a0And this was putting them on over the 3D glasses over my glasses.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 208px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"  \" title=\"back view\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/s3.amazonaws.com\/imgly_production\/3744703\/large.jpg?resize=198%2C264\" alt=\"\" width=\"198\" height=\"264\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">back view<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We&#8217;ll likely take them with us now, just in case&#8211;sometimes the motion blur can bother me, and sometimes Rob still has a bit of trouble with his eye. \u00a0But for people who get headaches, motion sickness, and whatnot from 3D, or just can&#8217;t go to 3D movies for whatever reason, these are good to have. \u00a0And in response to the likely &#8220;Why don&#8217;t you just see it in 2D?&#8221;
